Brazil returns to the radar of space launches. The Startup of South Korea, Innossece, announced last week that it will re -program a rocket at the Alcântara Launch Center (CLA) in Maranhão. The small Hanbit-Nano satellites, which was initially scheduled for July, will now only occur in the second half.

According to the company, the calendar was required after identifying technical problems related to the electric pump and the hybrid propulsion system of the first stage of the vehicle, during the preparations for the qualification test.

“ We sincerely recognize the concern caused by the two changes in the calendar and we feel a great responsibility. However, we determine that the technical problems identified in recent tests may affect the performance of the launcher vehicle and the success of the mission. Solving them in advance is a necessary preventive measure to fulfill our responsibility with the clients, ” said Soojong Kim, founder and CEO of Innossece.

This decision reflects our commitment to technical integrity, guaranteeing more reliable launch and operation. With the scope of the preparation period, the whole team agrees to deliver a more complete and safe result

Change to the date of launch in Brazil comes from the previous test

Preparations for this launch began by 2023, with the Hanbit-TLV flight, the first suborbital test to validate the engine of the first stage of Hanbit-Nano.

According to the Federal Government, in 2021 they were announced to qualified companies to launch orbital and suborbital space vehicles in Alcântara. CLA has been prepared to become an international reference, which can expand Brazil’s participation in the global space market, an essential factor for technological, economic and innovation development.

Advantages of the Alcântara launch center:

  • Start the base closest to the equator line (only 2 degrees and 18 minutes), causing flights there to reach the space faster due to the speed of rotation of the Earth, which saves up to 30% fuel;
  • The provision of the Alcântara Peninsula Allows launches in all types of orbitfrom equatorial (in horizontal lanes) to polar (in vertical bands) and the safety of sea impact areas needed by the rockets of various practices;
  • There is no maritime traffic and aerialoffer security and protection, mainly because it is outside the residential areas;
  • The stable climate, the well -defined rain regime and the winds in acceptable limits It is allowed to launch rockets almost every month of the year;
  • Due to these characteristics, it is the only competitor in the height of the Kourou Space Center in French Guiana.
