One of the goals of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, is to promote cuts in public spending. According to the Republican, the government of the country spends too much and it is necessary to urgently decrease national public debt.

For this reason, the White House presented an aggressive budget reduction proposal that even affects NASA’s operations. The text still has to be analyzed by Congress, but the impact of the layoffs on the space agency is already concerned.

Even the mission launch center can be affected

According to information on the political portal, NASA should lose at least 2,145 employees as part of Trump’s government effort for budget cuts. Almost all of these employees are in higher charges, which require specialized skills or management experience.

In total, about 1,818 of these workers operate in human mission or space flight areas, with the rest performing support functions such as computer science, facilities or finance management. In addition, the Kennedy Space Center must also be affected, where the main launches of space missions occur.

To get worse, the departure of these more than two thousand workers should be voluntary, which occurred by the government’s stimulus and represents only half of the cuts defended by President Donald Trump. A scenario that can affect future investigations and missions, especially on the moon.
