October is wearing the solar eclipse Annul: Will the event be seen from Brazil?

As reported Digital appearanceThis year we have three eclipses: one from the Moon (occurred in March) and two of the Sun. One of the solar eclipses was total and happened in April, seeing in some parts of Canada, almost all the United States and northern Mexico. Already the following, which will happen on Wednesday (2), will be a solar eclipse annulled-as the last visible in Brazil, which took place last year, also called “Ring of Fire”.

This time you can also see the event here in our country? First, we understand what is an annular solar eclipse.

What is a solar eclipse

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun throwing a shadow on a given area of the planet and completely or partially blocking the sunlight. There are three more well -known types of this phenomenon: partial, null and total. There is still a rarer and rare room that is practically mixed: the hybrid solar eclipse (like the one that happened in April 2023).

The partial eclipse is the most common type, which occurs when only part of the Sun is covered by the moon. In this case, there is virtually no change in the brightness of the day. In turn, the total eclipse is characterized when the whole solar disk is blocked by the moon, making the day dark completely.

Already the annular solar eclipse is very similar to the total, because the moon covers the sun, but leaves a circle of light visible around it: the “fire ring” so cast. This is due to the fact that it is farther from the Earth (a day or near), making its apparent circumference lower than that of the Sun.

The distance from the Moon from the Earth varies because its orbit is not perfectly circular: it is slightly oval, drawing a path known by ellipse. As you cross this elliptical path around the planet each month, its distance alternates between 356,500 km in the pear (maximum approach) and 406,700 km at the time.

Where you can see the “fire ring”

According to the website Space.comThe October annular eclipse of October will be visible to those who are inside a wide path through the Pacific Ocean and South America.

At the maximum point of the Pacific eclipse, the Moon will cover 93% of the center of the Sun and the fire ring will be visible for 7 minutes and 25 seconds.

This annular solar eclipse has a long way, rising south of Hawaii to the North Pacific Ocean and installing in the north of southern Georgia in the South Atlantic Ocean. This trip is 14,163 km, with the road between 265 and 331 km wide. Very little of this path crosses soils, with only Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and parts of southern Chile and Argentina in South America within the annulment path.

The “Ring of Fire” will be visible from this remote volcanic island of the South Pacific, halfway between Tahiti and South America. Only 14 years ago a total solar eclipse was visible from there on July 11, 2010.

Around 3,540 km west of Chile, Rapa Nui is the home of a thousand mysterious Moaiis, the remains of a 13th and 17th century culture. Rounded into stone pedestals called Ahus, these sculpted human figures can be found in various places on the island, which is completely inside the eclipse path.

How to see the eclipse over the Internet

Only 11,600 km from the path of the continental areas of the Creu Anular on October 2, the vast majority of South South America, in two private countries: Chile and Argentina, that is, the phenomenon Cannot be observed from Brazil In its entirety.

However, in some parts of the country it will be possible to witness some of the event. The states that will be able to see the eclipse, in the growing order of the highest eclipse percentage of the Sun are: Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso and Bahia.

The greater the greater the percentage of solar coverage for the moon. For example, while Goiânia will only see 0.02% of the eclipsed solar album, Porto Alegre will attend 26%. In Chuí, the southernmost end of Brazil, the coverage will be 38.15% (the maximum to be observed in the country).

According to the National Observatory (where), in São Paulo, the eclipse should begin to form partially at 16:51 (for Brasilia time), which ends at 18.23, with sunset. In Rio de Janeiro, you can see from 16:59, with the sun disappearing on the horizon at 17:50. At Minas Gerais, the event takes place from 18:59 to 18:15.

Those who cannot see personally because of the location or prefer to watch over the Internet, will be able to follow the live broadcast scheduled on your YouTube channel, from 12:30.
