From the early hours of this Saturday (30), a series of posts spread on social media in the United States, which claimed that President Donald Trump had died. However, this information is false: the head of state was seen this morning with his granddaughter, both leaving the White House.

According to online posts, the reason for Trump’s alleged death was because the politician’s public schedule is empty for this weekend. Still in this line, there is the absence of public statements since Tuesday (26).

Internet users also retrieved a photo of a bruise on one of Trump’s hands, which went viral on the Internet this week, to contextualize that the president was “dealing” with a major health issue.

Other reasons behind this reasoning are due to the position of the American flag: White House officials placed her at half-mast and facing the building. According to online users, this behavior would be “official” to indicate that the president has died or that the country is in official mourning.

For those in a hurry:

  • Early this Saturday (30), several online rumors indicated that President Donald Trump had died;
  • However, an AFP photographer recorded the moment when the head of state left the White House this morning, accompanied by his granddaughter, Kai Trump;
  • Then, later in the morning several videos and photographs were recorded showing that the president was alive.

After all, did Donald Trump die or not?

This Saturday morning (30), the French press agency (AFP) captured a photo of Donald Trump and his granddaughter Kai Trump leaving the White House grounds. Both leave accompanied by a presidential delegation that heads to the Trump National golf course (located in Sterling, American state of Virginia). The image can be seen here and below.

At the golf course, teams of journalists were already there to capture moments of the president, according to Globo correspondent Raquel Krähenbühl.

On social media, videos were posted on X/Twitter and Instagram, showing the president in the same white shirt and black pants as when he was photographed earlier with his granddaughteras well as the characteristic red cap with the words ‘Make America Great Again’.

Regarding the position of the flag at half-mast, there is also an explanation: is an official sign of mourning for the attack on a church in the city of Minneapolisan occasion when a shooter opened fire and killed 2 children and injured 17 others.

Read the White House statement justifying the flag’s position:

I hereby order that the flag of the United States be flown at half-mast at the White House and on all public buildings and grounds, on all military posts and naval bases, and on all vessels of the Navy of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the territory of the United States, including its territories and possessions, until sunset on August 31, 2025.
